Position Size Calculator
Size the Trade Before You Take It.
Enter your own numbers below and get an instant position-size calculation based on the risk parameters you choose.
How It Works
Risk First. Share Size Second.
Position sizing starts with the amount you are willing to lose if your stop is reached. NMFR divides that dollar-risk amount by the ATR-based stop distance to calculate the maximum whole-share position that fits within the risk amount you entered.
- Choose your maximum dollar risk
- Enter your ATR
- Choose your ATR stop multiple
- NMFR calculates the stop distance
- NMFR divides your risk by the risk per share
- Share size is rounded down to the nearest whole share

A Calculator, Not a Trade Signal.
This calculator performs math using the values you enter. It does not determine whether a trade is appropriate, recommend a stop methodology, or tell you what to buy or sell.
